Nicole Patterson - Squad Coach & Aqua Pups Coach
Nicole started swimming when she was twelve when she was a member of her primary school swim team that eventually lead to her first swim(shell) meet . As she progressed from Primary School into High School she was asked to join the local disabled swimming club to help encourage a friend to swim more often and boost her friend's confidence.
Nicole quickly transitioned from training to competitive swimming under the guidance of the coach. Her potential was recognised early and she was encouraged to take competitive swimming another step further and she joined an able bodied club to further advance her swimming career. She joined a small group of athlete's that were being coached under watchful eye of Greg Ross (Silver Licence Coach) who had not coached a disabled athlete up until that point. It was a steep learning curve for both and opened up a different side of swimming for both Greg and Nicole. She learnt a great deal of information in her time under Greg (twelve years). Nicole went through some great highs and not so good low's throughout her swimming career but, with Greg's guidance Nicole continued to develop and improve. She gives a lot of credit to Greg (and her parents) in helping her achieve her dream's and goals in swimming. Going from State Championships to Nationals to International level competition (World Paralympics Pan Pac's Argentina).
Nicole started swimming teaching in 2006 before she retired from competitive swimming in 2009. She felt it was time to start giving back to the community that had given her so much. Nicole then turned her focus on being a swimming teacher and coach to help future generations to learn to swim and move towards competition if they are ready and interested. She specifically remembers saying to herself at the age of ten that "I'd never be a swim teacher", oh how the tides have turned.

Emily Plumb- Squad Coach
In 2013 Emily tried out for Aqua Attack as a six year old after noticing the enjoyment her sister got from swimming. In 2014, at the age of seven Emily began to train to reach her dream of competing in her first swim competition as she watched her sister compete. Under her coaches guidance, John and Nicole assisted her in striving for greatness and helped her believe in herself to reach her potential as a young girl with dreams of competing in higher level competitions, such as State Championships.
At eight years old, Emily competed in her first competition and enjoyed the thrill of competing and knew she could achieve anything she set her mind to. She began to see improvements when Greg Ross took her in and did everything he could to develop Emily into a state swimmer with Nicole and John's help.
At nine, she competed in her first State Championships and she worked to qualify and compete in many more. After years of training she had the opportunity to compete in State Championships for six years. She gives lots of credit to Greg, Nicole, John and her dad for pushing her through the highs and lows of her swimming journey and helping her achieve the best outcomes she could have dreamed of. She also gives credit to the swimmers around her for pushing her to work hard throughout her training sessions. She truly made countless memories she will never forget with the other swimmers who quickly became family. Her ultimate dream was to compete at Nationals.
At fourteen Emily damaged her knee and struggled through injuries to continue her swimming career as much as she possibly could to reach her ultimate dream. At fifteen her knee could not handle the lifestyle of a swimmer and was told she needed to stop competing for her health.
At sixteen she was given the opportunity to join the other side of the Aqua Attack Swimming Club as a coach and she was overjoyed to still be a part of the swimming world. In 2022 she joined the coaching staff after retiring in 2021. She began to coach to assist other children in believing in themselves to reach their goals and develop as swimmers to the best of their abilities to achieve what Emily was not able to after injuring herself. She never thought she would coach and believed she would be a swimmer for as long as possible, but she wouldn't change it for the world. Her goal now is to be the best coach she can be, being taught under Greg and Nicole and to be able to put a smile on the swimmers faces and find enjoyment in achieving their goals like she once did.
